his newsletter marks the year
anniversary of
my.AgesofAthiria.com. While
it has been a disappointing year from an investment
standpoint, we're making progress in this direction
everyday. The two investors that we approached
during the early part of this year decided that the game
industry was not where they wanted to put their money and
turned our opportunity down. Our business plan is
currently in the hands of some people in San Fransisco. We're
hoping that the investors out west have a better understanding
of the entertainment industry specifically related to
games. As always, we will keep you updated as soon
as we know something. |

rogress is being made in many areas of
our technical demo. Because we are building the
demo as if it was the actual game, the construction is taking
a bit longer. My.AgesOfAthiria.com has seen much
new content introduced since its launch. We've
introduced an entire section on
Game Play
Information
. In it we describe player
character attributes, knowledge trees, skills and the concept
of backgrounds. Backgrounds are unique to Athiria
in that they provide a means for you to decide how you want
to enter the game. Starting skills, attributes
and equipment are all derived from
backgrounds. Gone are the days where every blacksmith starts out
with a
rusty weapon and a waterskin when what they need is a smithy
hammer and some ore. Bhel has finally gotten around
to implementing search functionality in
our forums. These two features are formally
announced with
this newsletter. |

ost Fridays we add a new Design Topic to the forums for our fans to debate.
These topics are usually something on which we are currently working , although
sometimes they are taken directly from the activity on the boards or elsewhere
in the industry. Many times we include elements of these discussions in our
design, which means we are listening to our fans and incorporating ideas where
appropriate. On Wednesdays two new backgrounds are released. We're almost
halfway through this list. Once they are all published, we will take
suggestions on additional backgrounds we may have forgotten, or you would like
to see made available. All told, it has been a good year for
my.AgesofAthiria.com, and we hope the coming year is just as promising. Funding
aside, the game is making progress towards being playable. Although we're
hoping not to have to release a partially complete game just to get it to
market because of funding issues. We all want to play this game. But, as one of
our fans recently noted, we're all learning the art of patience. |

his
month we take some time to update our
FAQ. With all the activity on our forums we though
it was a good time to add most of our answers to the
FAQ. Here are a couple of excepts from the new
section entitled, Military and Siege Combat. |

Military and Siege Combat
FAQ
Highlights |
|
| |
| |
Will
supply lines play
an important factor in siege warfare? - Yes. Supplies
are needed to fix war machines, feed troops and provide
maintenance for armor and swords. We expect that caravans
who usually run goods from one town to the next will find it
profitable to aid in providing supplies to a warring army or
the defense of a city. Allied cities will have the ability to
ask that their trade routes be rerouted to a nearby army in an
effort to provide assistance. In essence, the army becomes a
small temporary city that caravans can do business with just
as if it was doing business with the army's parent city
itself. |
|
| |
| |
What
happens to a city
that is destroyed? - Only the posessions of the city
are destroyed. Sure this is a large setback but the city
itself remains an official organization in the game. That city
may no longer have a home, but their city is still recognized
by the game and as such so is its justice system. |

entire night had passed while they rescued and spoke with Dregin. Each was
tired, but easily able to begin their full-day journey back to Outpost Truskar.
Kitrus was soon to rise over the Andwir peaks to the east, making it easier to
see the charred remains of Outpost Gannin. It was no prettier sight now than
when they first saw it at dusk last night. |

was anxious to depart the distastefully smelling scene. His first trip this far
south was, so far, not a pleasant one. He hoped to see more of it soon, during
less mysterious circumstances. "Rations for a single lunch for three is what's
left," he told Raugin. "Works out well then, lad! We'll dine at Truskar late
this night." Raugin held out his hand to help Dregin up from a sitting
position, "Up an' at 'em, Dregin. Let's head out." Dregin clasped Raugin's arm
and stood, nodding that he was ready. |

forest smells returned as they left Gannin, feeling like a breath of fresh air
to them all. What was it Dregin saw at the edge of the Swamps? Hannar couldn't
help but think about this as they traveled. No sense asking about it now. He
was sure to hear it in full when they got back to Truskar. That and other
questions filled his thoughts. Was his mother returned to Rol Wegir yet from
her tour of northern outposts? Did his father know anything about these goblins
yet? How would he and Uncle Daerros deploy their hunters in response? Where
would he be stationed? Laughing silently to himself, he knew they would handle
the situation just fine. Happy to be out from under the cold stone of Rol
Wegir, it really didn't matter where he was told to go. Just being able to
enjoy the freedom of the outdoors, the fresh air and starlit skies, was reward
enough. That he was serving the Hunter's Guild while doing so was a boon. |
